A Tasty Bunch of Love From Texas

By Jay Potter

Ask a Texan to explain the Lone Star State and if they are honest, they'll tell you Texas is a state of mind. Texas is enormous and colorful, simple to feel, complex to explain, and a Texan simply wouldn't live anywhere else. Lots to do and see and tons of great food to eat.

The name Texas comes from an Indian word, tejas, meaning friendship. And since Texans are friendly to their core, they like to share their love of Texas foods by sending relatives and buddies a box full of Texas eats. A Texas gift box, of course, is simply a Texas gift basket made perfect for shipping to anywhere on the planet. A birthday or some other special occasion or maybe merely an expression of thanks, if you're on the receiving end of a great Texas gift box sent your way, it is saying lots of good about you.

Giving the gift of a fiery habanero salsa or maybe a classic green tomatillo salsa lets someone know how much our cuisine has been sanctified by the great foods of Mexico. But if that Texas gift box has a selection of fruit preserves or pickled produce within, you can bet that someone in the Piney Woods of East Texas got involved. There aren't many fruits and vegetables that aren't grown here in Texas so if you receive a Texas gift box of food you can be assured it was pickled, pureed or preserved right here.

In Texas, the earth's best bar-b-cue can be experienced east (or west) of the Pecos River. So if you receive a Texas gift box packed with barbecue sauces, marinades and rubs, let that tell you a friend down here thinks mighty highly of you. Whoever sent you that Texas gift box of barbecue goodies knows you will not make great tasting "cue" with the stuff from your local corner store. That true friend is keeping a lookout for you so give him your thanks. And possibilities are good that a Texas gift box is going to have something in there which has been introduced to a little heat. As in, jalapeno heat. A blueberry or peach jelly with a few jalapeno peppers mixed in will give a whole new meaning to a biscuit sitting on a breakfast plate north of the Red River.

Texas gift boxes leave the state by the load in the Holiday season. What tastier way to tell a customer in Omaha, a client in Milwaukee or a friend sitting on a rig in the North Sea how much you appreciate them. Thanking someone for their business or support with a Texas gift box full of foods grown or made here in the state of Texas tells them you care.
