Invite Your Friends To The Party At The Horse Races

By Byron Jonas

If you attend a racetrack meeting, the party at the horse races can be very costly because tickets are expensive. You can have just as much fun if you organize a function at home and invite your friends and family to share the thrilling event at a fraction of the cost. Invite your guests to get into the mood by dressing up in their finery, serve drinks and food, and then watch the big race on television.

Here are some tips on how to organize your event. To create the right ambiance, have a horsey theme. Ask all guests to bring along a horsey gift which can be used as bets. To add to the occasion, put in an order for 2 dozen red roses at least 2 weeks before the party. If these are too expensive, silk flowers bought from a local craft market will be cheaper and work just as well.

Get the tables ready early when the big day comes. Red and white checkered tablecloths adorned with silver cutlery will look very racy. Put some roses or silk flowers in a vase on each table. Add flair by placing a votive candle on every table. The nice thing about these cylindrical candles is that, when they burn, the wax melts into the shape of the holder.

At each table setting, put some race forms, betting cards, and pencils. To produce a western look, tie rope around the sides of the tables. When preparing the buffet table, use another red and white checkered table cloth and lay out the snacks, canapes, sandwiches, and any other eats.

Also scatter horsey accents around the buffet table, e. G. Ribbons, saddles, trophies, and statues. Of course, you must have music playing. The best choice would be subtle piano or gentle jazz. Show the guests where their seats are when they arrive and then they can mingle with each other.

A nice touch would be to serve martinis as they arrive. If you live in the USA, serve mint juleps. These are the traditional drinks of the Kentucky Derby. Have a non-alcoholic cocktail as an alternative. There are plenty of quick, easy, and tasty recipes for these on the internet.

Allow guests at the party at the horse races to serve themselves from the buffet table and ask them to return to their tables to eat. Make an announcement that they can place their bets. Keep your eye on the time so you don't miss the race broadcast. While watching the event, continue serving appetizers and drinks.
