Restoring The Body's Chemical Balance Through Alkaline Foods

By Stephan Wilmes

Other than providing you nourishment and energy, what you eat also has an impact on your body's chemical balance. If it goes acidic, several different health problems can take place. Fortunately, there are many ways through which this balance can be restored to normal. One of them is by means of eating plenty of alkaline foods.

Such chemical imbalance can be identified by certain signs and symptoms. Some include headaches, listlessness and fatigue. You will also experience recurring allergies and sicknesses such as fever and colds. There are many other problems linked to excessive acidity of the body, from minor to fatal ones.

As earlier mentioned, a way to bring back this balance within you is by consuming food high in alkalinity. Through this, excessive acids accumulated inside the body can be neutralized effectively. Basically, three-fourths of the food you eat should consist of items that are high in alkalinity.

But before we discuss what you need to eat plenty of, let's go through some of the things you have to avoid. Some of them include meat, meat products, seafood, coffee, carbonated drinks, alcohol, and all instant and processed items. The problem is many people find it hard to completely shun away from all these as they're simply hard to resist.

Now that you know what to avoid, it's easier to realize what you should be having more of instead. Recommendable veggies include onion, garlic, spinach, asparagus, cabbage, celery, cucumber, radish, leeks, watercress, turnip and carrots. Avocado, orange, lemon, banana, watermelon, apple, grapes, grapefruit and peach are some fruits to include in your diet.

Also included in the list of alkaline foods are grains, nuts and seeds. There are also good oils to stick to, including coconut, flaxseed and olive oil. When you look for similar lists online, certain variations may be observed. But as a general rule of thumb, you should go for fruits and dark green vegetables that are grown organically.
