Mark Webber: A Principled 2010 British Grand Prix Champion at Silverstone

After more than eight years of struggling in the competitive world of motorsport, Mark Webber has finally taken the limelight when he was finally declared as the grand champion in the 2010 British Grand Prix at Silverstone. It has been a dramatic triumph for Webber when he succeeded in losing out his teammates and ardent competitors like Hamilton, the grand champion of the said event in 2008, and Vettel who was declared as the two-time champion in the year 2009 and 2011.

Born on August 27, 1976 in New South Wales, Australia, Mark Alan Webber started his interest with sports at a very young age. He considers Kevin Schwantz, a motorcycle race driver, and Alan Prost, a Formula One World Champion, as his ultimate childhood heroes. Webber started out with motorsport and karting at the age of 14, where he won the state championship in 1993.

Achievements as a Formula One Race Driver from 2002-2011

He had his debut Formula One race at the Australian Grand Prix in 2002 and his first win at the German Grand Prix in 2009. Despite his intention of staying in the Williams team, his contract officially ended in 2006. But it started his great career with Red Bull racing team in which he is an active member until now, 2012.

Webber showcased his outstanding driving prowess in the 2010 British Grand Prix at Silverstone where he was officially declared as the grand champion. More than 105,000 fans rejoiced on this dramatic event as Webber won over Hamilton, the 2008 British Grand Prix Grand Champion, by a lead of 1.3 seconds only.

Ever since then, Webber has always been driven by his goal to succeed in the industry. His hard work and long wait were paid off when he won the 2010 British Grand Prix over his ardent competitors.

To date, this Australian Formula One driver holds a record of 7 wins and 30 podiums with total career points of 717.5. He is a member of the world renowned Red Bull-Renault team until the end of the 2012 season. He had been an active director of the Formula One Driver's Union known as the Grand Prix Drivers' Association for a quite a long period of time.

Despite his success, Webber still finds the time to engage in other outdoor sports activities like mountain biking, road cycling, rugby, tennis and fitness training. He even won in the tennis tournaments which took place in Spain. Until today, Webber continues to be an eager fan of rugby.

Silverstone Predict a Fiercer Sports Rivalry between Webber and Vettel

Despite the success he has earned during the event, Webber has been outspoken about the obvious favouritism within his team. In fact, in the conference held after the event, he was very keen at expressing his dissatisfaction with his team. He added that he wouldn't have signed any contract with the team for the 2011 event if he had known that he would be treated unfairly.

The Vettel and Webber sports rivalry began when the Red Bull team asked the latter to let Vettel won the race. Webber refused to do what his team expected him to perform. He pursued his goal t become the grand champion but unfortunately, he got a place behind Vettel who was declared as the race's second placer
