Become A Better Angler With This Fishing Advice

By Charles Rossi

There is a good reason that so many people head to the water for some fishing whenever they have a little free time. It's a fun way to relax but everyone can use some advice. Keep reading for some great tips to make your next fishing trip even better.

Many bass fishermen choose to fish with lighter-colored grubs. A grub that is colored anywhere from white to chartreuse is usually effective. Grubs with silver flakes are able to reflect light, which can catch the attention of more fish. If you have not had any luck catching fish, try grubs that are the same color as the water.

If your luck at fishing has been bad lately, try moving from synthetic lures and bait to live or very life-like bait. Brands like Gulp have a life-like quality to their bait.

Although most outdoor activities are done when it is sunny, fishing is not one of these activities. When you have overcast in the sky, it is a great time to go out and fish. You can find success in even the least amount of rain. If it isn't a beautiful day out, it's still a great time to fish!

Wet your fishing line before attempting to knot it. This will make the knot much stronger, as well as reducing the friction when tying a knot. The double fisherman's knot or the clinch knot are two popular knots to try.

If you are discovering that you're losing many fish off your lure, then you probably need to thoroughly check the hooks. Dull or bent hooks can make it difficult to catch fish. You can keep your lures setting at their best by replacing old hooks with new ones.

Casting on the shore of a river or lake often nets the best results. Fish that collect insects will coalesce in these areas, so cast your line near there. Watch out for weeds, however!

Don't forget the bug spray. When you fish, you're going to surround yourself with insects and bugs at times. It is crucial that you take along bug spray to ensure that mosquitoes and other bugs don't ruin your trip. A failure to bring along some spray will result in numerous bites and welts. This is the last thing you want during and after a fun day of fishing.

If you want the best possible fishing experience, choose your equipment based on the fish you are looking to catch. If you're interested in catching walleye, you'll want to use a spinner rig, but if you're catching something else, you'll want to find the equipment that's best for them.

To be a successful fisherman, it is important to understand that different fish are attracted to different kinds of bait. For example, catfish are attracted to chicken liver, while bream fish prefer insects. You are unlikely to catch any fish with bait that does not look like a culinary delight to swimmers-by.

Fishing is an awesome way to enjoy yourself and relax. Even if you've been fishing your whole life, the sport always offers room to grow. Try these ideas out on your next fishing trip.
