Matters to Take into consideration When Shopping for Horse Saddles

By Marian Que

Buying a horse saddle can be a tough job but getting the right saddle is the most essential rung in your long ladder of horse training and horse riding. The internet has plenty of tips on helping you out. However if you do decide to buy a saddle from a store you must also speak to the owner or the person who mans the store for some extra pointers. At such times it is always best to take advice from people who have been in the same field as you for many years because at the end of the day - experience counts!

You must learn the types of saddles readily available. Before selecting your saddle it is always a good idea to go through brochures which will enlighten you on the diverse types available. The saddles on the market today are all round saddles, Arabian saddles, draft saddles, show saddles, ranch saddles, performance saddles and trainer saddles. These saddles offer distinct functions. Apart from the all round saddles the rest are meant for a specific situation only. For instance the show and performance saddles are widely-used exclusively if you decide to get involved in a show or race. During these moments you will be traveling at lightening swift speed. A thin saddle may wear down right away and you'll have to face very die outcomes. A training saddle does not have to be as tough as the performance ones. They have to be rather light-weight as you are still trying to get your horse acquainted with the saddle and educate him in a particular direction. Arabian, draft and barrel saddles are not especially created for a certain purpose yet are produced depending on the designs that started in various parts of the world at different times. As an example Arabian saddles were certainly first found in the Arabian desserts where the Arabs had perfected horse riding, they are very different in style from the ones American cowboys would likely use.

Before you buy your saddle understand for yourself why you are doing so. If it is plain comfort and style and a little bit of horse riding that you are looking for then opt for the Australian saddles. These have comfortable seats and give you a good riding experience. If you are trying to train your horse you can also decide on the western saddles.

Select a high quality saddle so that you need not be worried about any contingencies while riding. Falling off a rapid moving horse may cause near fatal mishaps. A high quality saddle will shield you from this. Don't jeopardize on the cost.

Also check to see if your horse is comfortable with the saddle. Make sure there are no nails sticking out and poking the poor animal. After all it is the horse that is going to carry you to your destination safely!
