The other day, I was in the city. I always say "the city" as if the entire globe knows exactly which city I am talking about-New York City. The grand city, the greatest city of them all at least in my opinion, although it is the only one I have even been to. I bet that right now you are imagining in your head the city in all of its glory. But being a Long Island girl, I can never really get used to the noise and volumes of people and taxis and buses and city bikes zooming by.
No matter where I am in the City or what I am doing, I always try to find time to make a pit-stop in Central Park. Central Park is perhaps one of my favorite spots in the city and I love the attempt of wilderness within the urban. However, the thing I like the least of all is the horses that are to pull carriages. Horses do not belong in cities, plain and simple. But I digress.
There are so many modes of transportation in this day and age, especially in the city. People can take buses, taxis, subways, trains, motorcycles, automobiles, and bikes. If I lived in the city, I would most definitely invest in a good city bike and use that - it is free!
Around my hometown, automobiles are the most sought after methods of transportation. I always wonder if the world would be better off if everyone just chose to use bicycles as transportation. Not only would people get more exercise, but the overall world pollution would greatly decrease. I would not mind riding bikes everyday.
The city is not the best place for cars so no wonder the majority of people chose to simply walk. But bicycles are always a great and efficient option to use and to avoid the crowded buses and subways.
