Bristol's Interesting Games Festival 'Igfest' Enters Its Fifth Year

By Hashim Javier

If you've ever wondered what it would be like to be chased by Zombies, interrogated by agents or hassled by crooked cops, get yourself down to Igfest, Bristol's original and radical street and interactive gaming festival.

Now entering its fifth year, Igfest is a celebration of the very latest in theatrical street gaming, with this year seeing three games taking centre stage hosting hundreds of eager participants at locations around the city centre.

The three games taking place this year were newcomers Cargo Remix and Incitement, along with an old favourite 2.8 Hours Later. Cargo Remix is the new incarnation from the 2.8 hours later team, whilst Incitement is the latest from Bristol based outfit Splash and Ripple.

2.8 hours later is a Zombie apocalypse based pursuit game where contestants must use stealth to travel across the city completing clues in order to discover the location of the survivors' base, all the while avoiding the hordes of marauding zombies out to catch them.

If you prefer something a little less un-dead, Cargo Remix transports you to a world where you must use your wits to outsmart crooked cops and obtain fake ID to enable you to cross the city and pick up the cargo before escaping by boat across the water.

At the other end of the scale is Incitement, a game set in a world where the authority sees and knows everything and employs agents to watch over the population and keep the peace. If you imagine nineteen eighty four set in the Google age you're somewhere close.

2.8 hours later took place over the course of four evenings from Wednesday to Saturday, when it was joined by Cargo Remix and Incitement for a day of interactive street gaming which saw the centre of Bristol transformed and swarming with contestants all looking to outsmart their opponents and be crowned victorious.

Interactive street gaming has been growing in popularity year on year, and Bristol's Igfest has always been at the cutting edge of the street gaming world, showcasing the very latest in theatrical gameplay alongside cult classic. This exciting new trend will continue to grow for many years to come, and there has never been a better time to catch theatrical game fever than now.
