Mountain Climbing is about Nature and You

By David Clark

It is regarded healthy to involve in any sports activity. Mountain climbing is one sport activity that is worthy to consider among others. While it is getting popular as many sports gear or apparel companies and media outfits are heavily advertising it for apparent reasons but the benefits of mountain climbing to one's health and well-being are undeniable. Few things are worthy to note.

It is endurance test

In any sports activity, power is a necessary ingredient. But it is not power alone that makes mountain climbing a real sport. It takes one to have endurance. Endurance is power evenly distributed in order to stay even on longer time to finish the task. It is ability to accomplish whatever you have started on your first step. Endurance is sustained energy that keeps you going to reach the apex of your goal.

Molding discipline

Sports are a discipline. But discipline is not a given fact; it is to be worked out. Anyone who gets into mountain climbing has to possess a certain level of discipline in order to be molded into a person of integrity. Discipline comes when you realize that mountain climbing is not simply a hobby or something external from you but your personal expression of being you.

Nature connection

As you step up your way, you become identified with the environment. Once you are in mountain climbing, you become involved with the environmental issues. You cannot be nave, passive or neglectful while doing your mountain climbing. You breathe the spirit of nature and you become one with it. The connection is symbiotic - nature gives you clean refreshing surroundings like mountains, ranges, etc., and as an exchange you are ethically bounded to care, nurture and preserve its natural state.

It is then right to think that mountain climbing pertains to both nature and you. It goes far beyond gears, harnesses and even physical strength to start with.
