Atlanta Hawks, NBA

Since 1968, Atlanta has been home to the NBA's Hawks.While they've just won a single NBA title, the team has been able to remain critical every year. With players like Joe Johnson and Josh Smith anchoring the team, the Hawks have a firm foundation for the future.The team has made the playoffs every year since the 2007-08 season, and last year made it to the Meeting Semifinals. Whenever NBA action resumes from the lockout, the Hawks will be a team to observe. The Hawks play in Atlanta's Philips Arena.

Atlanta Falcons, NFL

The Atlanta Falcons are one of the NFL's most pleasurable groups in Top sports in Atlanta. Their explosive offense is lead by quarterback Matt Ryan, running back Michael Turner and wide receivers Roddy White and Julio Jones. In 2010, the team went 13-3 before getting beaten in the playoffs by Green Bay, the ensuing Super Bowl winners. The team is conversant with winning, though, having been to the Super Bowl in 1998. While their 2011 season has started slow, the Falcons still assume they can remain competitive and make a playoff run. Atlanta Silverbacks, NASL

For soccer action in Atlanta, fans need to look no farther than the NASL's Silverbacks. They're a team which has experienced highs and lows, but is frequently entertaining. They used to be a playoff finalist in 1995, their first year as a Division 2 team in soccer's A-League. Now that they are in the NASL, the team has their eyes set on the future. The Silverbacks play their matches in Atlanta Silverbacks Park in Chamblee, Georgia. Regardless of not essentially playing their games in Atlanta, the park is simply a short 20 minute drive from Atlanta.

Atlanta Dream, WNBA

The WNBA is a good choice for basketball for women's basketball fans and locked out NBA fans alike. The Atlanta Dream franchise has a short history. It was set up in 2008, holding an enlargement draft right after its inauguration. This success has been due to their feat in not only drafting, but also making trades. The team has featured one or two All-Stars, including Angel McCoughtry and Sancho Lyttle. The team plays in Philips Arena in Atlanta.
