Commuting to Work on a City Bike

By Mike Sherman

There are numerous benefits to commuting to work on your city bike instead of choosing to go by car, bus, or train. It will help your bank account, your health, and the environment around you. Depending on the distance you are traveling, it could even take less time. It will be more fun for sure. City bikes are built to take on every obstacle on urban roads.

Commuting by bike will save you money. The only way this would hurt you is because your wallet will be heavier when riding. Gas prices these days are outrageous not to mention the total cost of maintaining a car. Nobody wants to deal with that in this economy. It costs over $5,000 per year to operate a car as compared to $120 per year for a bike. That goes without even saying how much mileage and wear you can save on your car to make it last longer.

Riding your bike to work is a great way to improve your health. It can save you from having to exercise after work. Riding your bike can also lower your stress levels as well as your chances of getting heart disease. Furthermore, you will be gaining calories and building muscle.

Helping the environment is another advantage of riding your city bike to work. It reduces the amount of air and noise pollution that would usually come from a motor vehicle. Furthermore, there would be less need for roadwork and construction if more people were to commute by bike. Global warming would also be less of an issue due to there being less carbon dioxide in the air.

Riding your bike to work can potentially save time on your commute. You can avoid being stuck in traffic and having to search for where to park. Riding your bike is a great way to commute if you happen to be in a city. Then when all your colleagues are rambling on about how long they were stuck in traffic you can tell them the way to go.
