Which Is Right for You: Sling Backpacks or Backpacks?

By Sonia Smith

Can you make a reasonable decision to choose a right bag for your utilization? Have you ever been confused by sling backpacks and common backpacks? These two bags can transfer things with their sack being attached to the straps. Besides this common function, they share many differences in structures, functions, types and wearing methods.

Constructions: A sling backpack is a simple bag with a strap winding around the chest, which resembles a messenger bag. Sling backpack usually suits with fewer compartments and zippers. They often produced with large flaps to fold the front of the bag and the buttons at the bottom. Sling bags are designed for light supplies and accessories. Backpacks usually have two adjustable straps (sometimes also have hip belts and chest belts) attaching the bag. Unlike sling back packs, they have internal or external frames, internal compartments and pockets to fulfill the function. They are ideal for hikes and outdoor adventures.

Functions: Sling backpacks are usually too frail and delicate to load heavy things. Therefore, multiple textbooks and large gears are not suitable to be carried by them. Since the sling cases are often stylish and fashionable, they are nice for young people to carry supplies and accessories. On the contrary, backpacks do not pay much attention on their delicacy. Most backpacks are used as "book bags" or hiking bags due to their large capacity and sturdiness. They are often practical to carry your gears in your trip.

Categories: Sling bags can be classified into several categories in terms of their shapes, designs and styles. Some are featured with the long straps, which allow the bag to be hanged on the opposite shoulder by crossing it around the chest. Some are delicately designed for young fashionable ladies. Some have specific purposes to hold a laptop or a camera. These sling cases must have right dimensions and proper designs for their stuff. While, backpacks mostly differ in structure, size, design and color. Backpacks are more functional rather than fashionable. They can usually be categorized into frame backpacks and frameless backpacks with various sizes and colors.

Wearing ways: Sling backpacks are very easy to wear. You can just put the looped handle of the sling bag over your head, and lay the top side of the strap above one shoulder and the bottom side under the opposite arm. Finally, adjust the strap to fit for your torso properly. Backpacks are a little complex to wear. You must wear them on your back with the two straps sticking to your two arms separately. After that, the shoulder straps should be tightened as well as the hip belts and the chest belts in case that it will bounce up and down on your back.

The main issue you have to consider when deciding whether to buy a sling backpack or a backpack is that you must know which is important: function or fashion? If you want to lead the fashion, a stylish sling bag is recommended. But if you want to take an adventure in the wild, an internal frame backpack is the better choice.
