The Fact That God Created Us In His Image Is Often Misunderstood

By Claudine MacDonald

There is a natural pride that comes when a person is confident and accepts how they were made. Whether they are short or tall, thin or heavy, or walk with or without assistance, embracing the reality of self and being proud of it, is a good thing. However the pride and confidence goes astray when people begin to compare themselves to others and then assume that they are better than everyone else. This selfish comparison then turns divisive and creates a world of heartache and pain. One should take comfort in knowing that God created us in his image.

For many years the planet has been presented with the truth that man was created in Gods likeness. For mankind to be created asserts the fact that there has to be a power vastly smarter than man himself. After all, a body is comprised of so many critical parts which are made to harmoniously work together.

When human eggs are fertilized it develops by using natural elements that can be found everywhere. Humans continually use air, food, and other portions of nature in order to keep living. Finally when the body dies it will go back to a totally natural state and be used to create other lives. Mankind does not have the capability to make life. Neither can he make the ingredients that are used to make life.

God has to be omnipotent to create complex and beautiful systems like life. This could be the reason many take pleasure in mentioning they are created in Gods likeness. There are those which desire to discredit others as being godly images themselves.

Racial hatred has plagued the world for many years. People of color have been considered anything but godly by various white people. Conversely, there have been people of color making the assumption that white people are ungodly. People born into wealth will believe that they are Gods image while those who are starving are not.

Religions tends to play a big part in this. There are many who are affiliated with a religion. They can feel their religious approach places them in the best position to be like God. They could also frown on other forms of religion, sharing thoughts as to why they are sub par.

The world will become a much better place when there is a removal or racial hatreds as well as prejudices towards any differences. The key lies in a better understanding of being created in Gods image. Ones main focus should be to serve God. There should be a desire to be in fellowship with Him. Being in his image means that one has the ability to connect with him. And everyone has the ability to have this connection.

People should understand that being like God is not about things that can decompose once the body has died. It is not about features, skin, or material items one may have. God created us in his image, and this means more than anything that human beings are compassionate, loving, and have the ability to make good decisions.
