Beginning Golfers - Making Up One's Mind On Clones or Top Brands

By Fred Fox

Buying golf clubs is, in many ways, like buying a car. Because it can be an expensive investment, try renting them first.

Hybrid clones give the best value for the money as a name brand and should be a main examination. Clones use the exact same materials and specs that name brands have however, without the big price.

Purchasing anything new is always a thrill, and it's smart to have some experience under your belt before you jump into the water. Consider your individual body type and your level of play when choosing a club.

Critical to the performance of any golf clubs is that the clubs are a good match for the player who is playing them. Getting a suitable match is the single most important factor influencing perperformance. By playing, ideas of what club features are important to your game become more obvious and critical thinking, as to equipment choice, develops.

Woods: A 1-wood is labeled the driver but there are also "drivers" that are dedicated drivers, and not a 1-wood. Fairway woods are shorter in length, the driver being the longest club in the arsenal. In the end, personal preference and how it really feels to strike the ball with the driver or fairway wood is what really counts.

Irons: Golf clubs referred to as irons have grooves cut into the club face. Irons are classified by distance ranges as long, mid and short irons. The irons with the highest lofts are the short irons. The short irons are the 8 and 9 irons. Mid irons are 5, 6 and 7 irons and the long irons are 1, 2, 3 and 4 irons.

Putters: Putters come in club head styles of blade, heel-toe and mallet. The varieties in length come in belly putters, standard and broomstick long putters. Putters are the most used club in the game and one should pay special attention to fit and preference of the putter.

Utility clubs: These are hybrid clubs that combine characteristics of irons and woods and are favored by new players who do not want to lug around a full collection of clubs.

At first, it makes better sense to get pre-owned clubs or an inexpensive set of clubs. Better yet, to protect from overspending on new clubs, give a thought to clone golf club purchases. You get the same quality but without the pricy label and the chance that you'll always favor that club long after you have attained proficiency. Hybrid golf club clones make great sense that even the pros resort to when they want a specific quality and when playing with an advertised brand does not make a difference.
