Picking up a City Bike Once It's Warmer

By Rob Sutter

I don't think that there are many people waiting to ride a city bike in the cold weather we are in right now. Even though we are at the tail end of February, it seems like people do not want to listen to what could be considered reason and instead go to ride anyway. If I didn't know any better, I would like to think that these riders are part cyborg or may not be part of this world at all. I believe that a couple of aspects go into people who ride in this climate.

One of the tips that I can recommend when riding a city bike in the cold is to put many layers on. When your mother told you to bundle up before getting on the school bus during school days, it's clear that she wasn't kidding since the bitter cold can deal quite a few blows. You want to make sure that you wear clothing that is both comfortable in response to weather and light enough so that you can still maneuver. It may be the tip you need when investing in companies such as Linus Bike.

Following up on the importance of clothing, no other part of the body should be focused on more than the head. The truth is that you lose thirty percent of your body heat through your head and that means you're going to have to invest in some headgear. While I'm sure most people would associate helmets with cycling, I think that earmuffs and snowcaps are more imperative since they help to keep that part of the body warm. Do not forget about this step.

What if you're competing in a run at a high level but maybe going to the arena or venue from home is not going to be able to be done. You want to be able to drive there, at least, and having the bike sit in the back can be done. While you're waiting for the competition to start, take the time that you have to stay in the revving car with the heat up to the highest setting possible. You're going to want to take it all in so that you do not freeze.

A city bike in the cold weather should not be a fitting pair and, most likely, people are not going to be so keen on the matter. However, if you decide to take a trip through the cold, it's possible that you can take up different clothing in order to see the race through. Bundling up is important but make sure that you pay special attention to what's placed on your head. It's going to be the difference between warmth and succumbing to freezing.
