In my eyes, Daniel Bryan has the biggest opportunity of a lifetime this coming Sunday at SummerSlam. After all, he's going after the WWE Championship for the first time in his career and he has a challenge in contending with current titleholder John Cena. One can only imagine how much harder he is going to train in order to make the most of this match. Is it possible, though, for an obstacle course race to come into play in order to help Bryan train more effectively?
Bryan works well in the ring and I believe that his style is one of the best. Not only is he aggressive with the moves that he's able to execute but he's one of the quickest athletes on the roster to boot. Bryan can seemingly perform a number of moves, though you're more likely to see him run and attack than stand around and exercise brute strength. He's a faster star in the ring, which helps to separate him from the rest of the roster.
From what I've watched of Bryan as well, he does not seem to be opposed to taking great amounts of abuse in the ring. Seeing as how he is a smaller worker in the ring, he finds himself overwhelmed by times by opponents who are bigger than he is. As a result, it's probably worth noting that the idea of this style of race is going to call for a great deal of effort. You may find yourself becoming exhausted rather quickly but it's another challenge for any plucky contender to overcome.
I think that Bryan can work very well in an obstacle course race if he's willing to incorporate the element of effort into it. Think about just how competitive he can truly be, no matter who he is in the ring with. It doesn't matter how popular a person is or how large they are in comparison to himself; he is going to work to the greatest of his ability and then some. It's the kind of mindset that deserves to be correlated to events like Spartan Race, too.
As you can probably imagine, I am completely in a favor of an obstacle course race of this caliber being done for the sake of training. Bryan is going into the biggest title match of his career and it's apparent that he's going to have to work twice as hard in order to ensure a victory. He's a hard worker in the ring, so it's a safe bet that he will be able to bring his A-game. It's just a matter of whether or not said A-game is going to allow him to seize the WWE Championship.
