Math Games For Grade 2 To Challenge Young Minds

Very young children learn life skills from the grownups and older children around them. Watching and learning can help early learners to develop calculation skills with math games for grade 2. These primary basics of math are required throughout life and can be learnt in many unorthodox and fun ways.

Any of these methods that are entertaining for young children to play contribute to improving thinking and reasoning processes. Fundamental methods for division, adding, subtracting and multiplying can be taught through these games. Anything learnt early in life will be quickly assimilated and used.

A game called 'get into groups' needs to be played in an open area. The teacher calls out easy sums like 4 x 3 and children need to form clusters of 12. Subtraction, multiplication, division and addition can be used when playing this game which also teaches children to work together to achieve their goals.

A popular game Math Hangman uses words instead of numbers. Using this concept long math sums can be written out for children to determine the answer. With only a few chances to give a correct answer before the hangman gets them children have a lot of fun playing this game.

A simple deck of cards makes an excellent arithmetic kit. Using only numbered cards various innovative mathematics games for grade 2 can be played. Divide a pack equally between two players. The game starts with each player placing a card face up on the table. Whoever gives the answer first collects the two cards. The player who holds the most cards at the end is the winner. Any math sums can be played in this manner. As the pupils become more astute they will give the answers quicker.

Lengthy addition and subtraction sums can also be played using a deck of cards. In fact playing math games for grade 2 children is only limited by the instructor's imagination.
